Narelle grew up in a small country town on the River Murray in South Australia where she spent summer holidays earning the pocket money for the year ahead cutting apricots in half and laying them out on drying boards for the princely sum of $1 a board. It was good clean country living that included lots of camping, river swims, 4 wheel driving, cubby houses and climbing trees.
She studied Graphic Design at the University of South Australia in the genteel state capital Adelaide. At the conclusion of her studies she left the country and hemisphere for the life if a ski bum in North America before the graduation ceremony invites were even printed. The ensuing years she fitted ski boots in Vermont, served cocktails in Sun Valley and tended bar in New Zealand. Since then Narelle has lived in the United States, New Zealand, Canada and Indonesia, as well as the tropical untamed and wild north of Australia in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Finding the world of publishing and advertising was the perfect fit for Narelle. A design graduate that had been in the trenches of telecommunication sales call centres, this combination of skills has served her well. Since her modest start selling newspaper ads in the NT News she has since held senior executive roles in sales, media, marketing and advertising for some of the most recognisable media brands in Australia and around the world.
Narelle holds a firm belief that the regular working week we know and are familiar with has a short life span. For many years she only just managed to satisfy her love for travel with an allocated annual leave allowance. Living in Darwin at the very top of Australia for eleven years she was able to explore all of South East Asia. Accessible with flights of only a few hours she has seen most countries in the region and still rates the sprawling archipelago of Indonesia as her favourite with over 20 trips to date.
Blessed with an unshakable an inherent obsession to travel Narelle is excited to be living in our modern connected era. Obsessively organised and frighteningly optimistic, her own mix of grit and self promotion allows her to fulfil her dream of travelling full time. She shares her adventures with friends, family and followers and loves being a part of the new world of distributed workers, digital nomads and global citizens.
