Travel Inspiration For Your Wedding Day Plans in 2021/22

Following a year of turbulence, Brits are more than eager to get back to normality as soon as possible in 2021, with everything from long awaited trips abroad, getting back in to the office, as well as those big life events such as getting married or engaged at the forefront of their minds.

For those looking to tie the knot, there is light at the end of the tunnel thanks to the most recent announcement from the UK government has given the go-ahead for weddings to take place once again (albeit with rules in tow) starting on March 8th, with the aim of lifting restrictions by June 21st.

As such, 2021 and in to 2022 is likely to see an influx of honeymoon bookings in the coming months, helping to inject a much-needed boost back into the travel and hospitality industry both at home or abroad, but where are the hottest destinations for those hoping for a romantic post-wedding getaway this year, or early next.

Here are our top picks for when travel restrictions finally ease…

Lake District

Whether you’re looking to pop the question, or looking for a somewhat adventurous honeymoon escape, there really is no place quite like the Lakes.

The dramatic scenery provides the perfect backdrop for some rather spectacular wedding photos, and there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained for the duration of your getaway, with everything from distillery tours to kayaking up for grabs.

For those hoping for something slightly more intimate, opt for an out of season month for your big such as September, when the sun is still likely to be shining but the tourist levels are quietening off a little.

From the Broads to the Coastline, Norfolk is a simply gorgeous location for those hunting for somewhere special to host their big day.

The beaches of Norfolk, and across the county border into Suffolk are breathtaking, and surrounded by equally beautiful countryside locations filled with winding country lanes and thatched roof cottages, meaning you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to saying, “I do”.

North Yorkshire

Filled to the brim with historical cities, sleepy country villages, sweeping landscapes and a plethora of coastal towns and villages, North Yorkshire is home to an abundance of choice for your special day.

Our top choices include: the coastal smugglers village of Robin Hood’s Bay, the historical city of York, the beautiful market town of Helmsley or foodie paradise, Malton.

Sun, sea, and bustling cities, Mallorca boasts it all.

There’s something rather special about Majorca at sunset, especially when the mountains of Soller and surrounding areas begin to glow pink as the sun begins to set, providing the perfect backdrop for a wedding day photoshoot. You could even arrange to hop on the old wooden trainline, for something a little different on your big day.

For those who would prefer a chic city location instead, Palma de Mallorca is right on the coastline, overlooking the bay of Palma – providing the best of both worlds. Due to it’s location on the coast, a wedding breakfast inclusive of fresh seafood is a must!

Whilst a city wedding might not appeal to everyone, there really is something quite magical about the city of Rome that we believe would make it a top choice for a wedding day destination.

Due to the phenomenal level of history round every turn in Rome, there are no end of photo opportunities housed within this wonderful city that would make your special event even more memorable than it’s likely to be.

The Italians are also renowned for their incredible food, which might mean narrowing down a menu could be more challenging than anticipated!

The city is equally alive in the evening as it is in the day time, meaning a wedding after dark could be the perfect option if you’re looking to host your celebrations in a quieter part of the day.

Wherever you pick for your big day, once things begin to slowly return to normality, you really will be spoilt for choice!
