Los Arcos Hotel. Holbox island Mexico

*As seen in The Logbook

Located in the very heart of the Holnox Island and only 150ft from the main beach, Los Acros Hotel is one of the oldest and most traditional hotels on the island. Offering guests an authentic Caribbean feel, stylish rooms, a large central courtyard and a spectacular Mexican flavour.

A great choice for travellers seeking quality for their budget, there are two types of rooms available at Los Arcos Hotel and amenities include wireless internet access in the lobby, a safe deposit box at the front desk, currency exchange and car, bikes and kayak rental services.

Los Arcos Hotel was founded over thirty years ago in 1988 by Jose Zapata who was known as “Don Pocho” and y Sra Dinora Bacelis. The original hotel pioneers in Holbox their inspiration was to service the needs of the people who were already starting to visit the island. You see, at the time it was a fishing island with completely virgin beaches, and this attracted many tourists with an aim to find something unique and real.

There are ten people who service the guests across thirty rooms of the family hotel and one of the outstanding features is the personal attention and warmth that the team provide guests. Guests arrive as strangers but very soon feel as if they are part of the family environment and in a way, belong.

The rooms come with all the amenities one would expect, offering WIFI and garden views and while they are simple in design, they make up for it in character and value for money. The staff attend to each guest and the development of customer relationship is paramount and something that has been at the forefront of this business since their launching in the 80s.

Holbox Island is Mexico’s best-kept secret and a secret Jewel of Riviera Maya. Part of the Federal Reserve of Yum-Balam (Land of Jaguars) it is located right off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican Caribbean and right where the Gulf of Mexico meets with the Caribbean Sea.  Still a quiet fishing village with a population of around 2000 people, this is the last remaining refuge for those wanting to relax and chill.
