A warm and welcoming home which can sleep up to nine guests, Miner’s Nest is set within the former gold mining town of Barrys Reef, less than 90 kilometres from Melbourne. A fully equipped three-bedroom home benefitting from a touch of art décor glamour and heaps of vintage knick-knacks it’s set on half a hectare of gardens with the Wombat State Forest as the backdrop.
A RARE CHANCE TO RELAX
A rare chance to relax, reconnect with friends, family and nature you won’t find a TV in the living room. Instead you’ll find couches and arm chairs to bask in the morning sun and watch the wildlife through the large lounge room windows. Cupboards stocked with board games, an assortment of books and an extensive record collection to enjoy whilst sitting by the Coonara fire. You might as well just leave your devices in the luggage.
The Miner’s Nest comes with a fully equipped, modern kitchen with stove, oven, coffee machine, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Allowing guests, the choice of preparing a home cooked meal or dining out. The house not only has a sunny decked area and a front verandah but also a paved back patio area with a BBQ and outdoor dining table.
Of the home’s 3 bedrooms, 2 offer queen sized beds with Art Deco wardrobes, and the third bedroom is set up as a children’s room, with 3 single beds, a DVD player, books and toys to keep the younger guests amused.
The main bathroom is complete with stunning claw footed bath, double vanity and toilet, and the laundry contains a shower and second toilet.
As well as a Coonara wood fire, the house has a reverse-cycle air-conditioning and heating unit in the main living room, fixed heaters in each bedroom as well as electric blankets on all 5 beds and loads of warm blankets to ensure all guests are comfortable in the cooler months.
Outside, for the children there is the trampoline and swing set, a cubby house and loads of trees to climb across the expansive grounds. For everyone else, they have the chance to roast marshmallows in the fire pit or search the neighbouring forest for evidence of the town’s gold rush history.
PRICE: Nightly rates from. Off-peak – $149. Minimum stay is 2 nights. A $500 refundable security bond, $135 cleaning fee and $50 booking fee applies to all bookings.
