Wild Dog Tours. Seeing Zimbabwe’s Waterways in Style.

*as seen in The Logbook.

Offering the best views of Zimbabwe’s spectacular water ways, Nikki Blyth founded Wild Dog Tours in January 2013 after she saw an opportunity to manage a selection of houseboats. At the same time, she was offered a handful of private houses to hire out to holiday makers and she launched her business to manage both.

Houseboating is one of the best ways to see both Lake Kariba and the famous Zambezi river and all of the natural beauty and wildlife that comes with them.  Also, Wild Dog Tours are agents for Nyamoumba Fishing & Birding Lodge on the Zambezi River just outside the Kariba Gorge. This stylish self-catering chalet offers everything needed for a quiet getaway, including en suite bathrooms, central dining areas, swimming pool and braai facilities. All with the privacy of your own home away from home.

Wild Dog Tours offers a professional and personal service to its clients and can assist in all kinds of requests. The incredibly luxurious and unique houseboats are usually booked out for three nights, but it all depends on the client’s requests. Nikki recommends getting in touch should there be any questions.

Lake Kariba is an ideal place for fishing and game viewing. The largest man-made lake in the world, it is deep, vast and teeming with life.  Thanks in part to the vegetation being burned before the lake was flooded after the building of the nearby Kariba Dam, the lake bed is incredibly fertile which has meant that fish have flourished there. This has attracted bird and wildlife to the shores making this a wonderful location for any animal lovers.

The forth longest river in Africa, the Zambezi not only boasts the majestic Victoria Falls, but also has a long history of cultural significance for the local people in Africa. Its nutrient rich waters draw in animals and wildlife for miles around and it is also one of the most important rivers on the continent for hydroelectricity. Other notable falls include the Chavuma Falls at the border between Zambia and Angola, and Ngonye Falls, near Sioma in Western Zambia.
