What could be more idyllic than relaxing beneath a canopy of old trees to recharge the mental and physical faculties away from the hullabaloo of the modern world? This is what Thompson Hall Retreat is perfect for. Located in the heart of Norfolk, an East Anglian county of deep forests, peaceful valleys and farmlands, this secluded sanctuary overlooks the neighbouring arable land of the Norfolk wildlife trust where the loudest sound is the wind moving through the trees.
The Shepherd Huts
Thompson Hall Retreat, which is soon appearing on Channel 4’s “4 In a Bed”, guarantee certain standards for their glamping guests who visit them seeking refuge from their daily lives. To provide the best that glamping has to offer, each of the three shepherd huts come equipped with a luxury king sized bed, fully stocked kitchen area including microwave, fridge and gas hob and an atmospheric wood burner. The bathrooms are what you would expect from a hotel including spacious showers, illuminated mirrors and electric towel rails while the veranda boasts a double ended bath, gas fire pit, a fully equipped kitchen and a combi oven.

There are three Shepherd Huts to choose from. Hartley Hut, named after the children’s character Hartley Hare, Bishy Barney Bee, named after a local Norfolk name for a ladybird, and Whoa-Stop, named after a beach hut in Southwold Suffolk. Each hut is decorated in its own unique fashion and carefully located to ensure the best value of views and privacy. Check in is from 3pm and check out is at noon.
