Pulse Africa is in the dream business. Specifically, transforming travel dreams into reality excursions. And they do it very well.
Offering expertly designed luxury itineraries covering 16 countries and islands in Africa the business was dreamed up many years ago by Kenyan born Sandy Wood and officially established in 1992. It is the product of her own journey in travel as a guide, lodge manager, tour planner and finally founder of Pulse Africa.
“When you’re born in Kenya you are born with a natural desire to explore the beauty around you,” Sandy says, “I’ve always loved the adventure that comes with exploring new places and finding little gems and my business is based around that.”
Her Business
Sandy has expanded the company to include 12 locally employed staff and they have handled some very interesting and in-depth projects. These include the sorts of trips that require two years’ worth of planning in advance and the kind that need to be ready in a week. There is a lot to be said for planning in advance and the work that goes into planning an excursion many years ahead, helps support the ones that are made last minute and vice versa.
Business Relationships
A large focus at Pulse Africa is getting to know their clients and learning how to read their expectations. This understanding puts them into the best position to offer a trip that hopefully goes beyond the client’s expectations. As a result of this close rapport Pulse Africa benefit from an enormous amount of repeat and referral clients traveling with them.
Similarly, on the supplier side, they have built up solid relationships with many highly reputable suppliers across Africa. From large hotel chains to small boutique hotels, from air charter companies to large international airlines as well as activity providers, private guides and various other specialists. Having been in the business for so many years, they do have their favourites and they work hard on building and maintaining the best relationships possible. This way they ensure that they are able to offer the best value and best service to their clients every time.
Experience
The Pulse Africa travel specialists travel frequently into their areas of expertise. Sandy insists upon this because she believes that keeping up to date with the product and travel trends is vital to the success of their business.
