When you are looking for a way to escape from the regular routine of life, one of the best things you can do is go out of your comfort zone. Camping is always an amazing way to spend your time and it is something which many people do every year as a short break with family and friends. If you fancy trying camping for yourself in the new year, here are some of the essential things you’ll need to pack and bring with you.
Energy
The first thing you will want to think about when you go on a camping trip is how wild you want to be with it. If you want to go full Bear Grylls you can simply take a tent and nothing else and sleep under the stars. If not though, you can use the best inverter generator you can find and at least have some form of heating in your tent every night. This can make a massive difference to your camping trip and it can take the edge off when it’s cold and damp.
Food and drink
What do you plan on eating and drinking during your camping trip? We all think about the glory of toasting marshmallows on the fire but not many of us think of the rest, and this is where we come in. Think about bringing along something like hot cocoa powder and a water filter so that you can have hot chocolates on the fire. Bring canned beans and mince meat to have a chilli on the fire… there are loads of campfire recipes you can make which are amazing and fun too.
Clothes and bedding
Now that you have a tent and you have something to eat you will also need some clothes and bedding to use during your stay. Sleeping bags are of course a must and if you can bring lots of layers of clothing this is ideal for you. You can also bring a blanket or two for in the evenings when you are all sat around the fire eating and singing songs.
Equipment
When you go on a camping trip you won’t have everything handed to you like you do when you are at a hotel, and this means you need to think about things like pans, cutlery, fire lighting kits and anything else you will need during the trip. There are a lot of things you might need to bring such as a first aid kit and batteries for a torch so make sure you really take the time to go through this list:
Chairs
Flashlights and batteries
Lantern
Lantern fuel or batteries
Stove
Fuel for stove
Matches
